Etnies
Etnies is a brand of shoe that started off being solely dedicated to skateboarding shoes. Headquartered in Lake Forest, California, this American footwear brand is owned by Sole Technology Inc. Besides being a leading brand of skateboarding shoes, Etnies now include shoes for surfers, snowboarders, motocross racers, and BMX bikers.
Etnies originally started in France in 1986. The words Etnies derives from the word ethnic, but was called Etnics before evolving to the brand name now known around the world as Etnies. Pierre-André Sénizergues was in charge of the Etnies name and product in 1989 making this the first time ever a professional skateboarder owned their own skateboarding show line.
Etnies not only designs shoes for recreational activities, they also have widened the generations they market for. The now have a toddler line, women’s line, and a girls Etnies line available.
Etnies is a well known name to any skateboarder. Etnies is a main sponsor of many skateboarding events. Besides sponsoring events, Etnies also sponsors individual professional athletes in skateboarding, snowboarding, BMX racing, motocross racing and surfing.
